Marvel Studios, ABC to air tribute special for Chadwick Boseman
Marvel Studios and ABC are joining to bring us a tribute to Chadwick Boseman, which will consist of a Black Panther showing and a news special.
The world is at a loss following the death of 43-year-old Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman on Friday, and all of Hollywood has come together to mourn and remember him over the past 48 hours. Marvel Studios is joining with ABC to take that a step further tonight, bringing fans of Boseman a three-hour tribute special to honor his memory.
Beginning at 8 p.m. EDT, the special will open with a showing of Black Panther, the Oscar-winning film that catapulted Boseman to fame and made him the first Black superhero to grace the big screen. The Marvel film sees T’Challa returning to Wakanda to take his rightful place as king — and facing a powerful enemy in the process.
Following the movie screening, an ABC News special called Chadwick Boseman – Tribute for a King will take place from 10:20 p.m. to 11 p.m. During this 40-minute television event, the network will reflect on Boseman’s legacy and the impact he had on so many.
Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts will anchor tonight’s special on ABC. According to Deadline, it will feature tributes and words from fellow celebrities and fans, along with further details about the cancer he struggled with for years leading up to his passing.
