PlayStation Plus members have two new free games for the month of September. Get ready for a battle royale game and a solid fighter option!
PlayStation Plus members have had some great months of free games this summer. Last month’s offerings were solid, including a game that was free as of its release date. And Fall Guys is mesmerizing to both watch and play.
September may not be as excellent as prior months, but the options are still pretty dang good.
Here are your two free games for the month of September:
- Street Fighter V
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

Let’s dive right in and see what’s worth your time.
First up is Street Fighter V. It’s Capcom’s latest entry in the Street Fighter series, released in 2016. The graphics and gameplay of this installment are the best in the series for sure, but when it came out, everything else was a little bare-bones.
However, since release, new editions have come out (including Champion Edition and Arcade Edition) to flesh it out and make it a well-rounded fighter game.
Also as a fun bonus, PlayStation is kicking off Street Fighter V PS4 tournaments in the U.S. and Canada starting September 4. Prizes include a cool PS4 theme, a custom in-game title, and the possibility of cash prizes.
Next up is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG. Released in 2016, it was definitely one of the big proponents of battle royale games when they really gained traction back in 2016/2017.
It’s a concept we know well: 100 players parachute onto an island. The last one standing wins. Play however you want! Run headfirst into battle trying to out-button mash your opponents or set up on a cliffside with a sniper rifle. The choice is yours.
Like almost every other popular battle royale game, it’s incredibly fun and frustrating to play. If you like Fortnite or Apex Legends and somehow haven’t played PUBG, this is your chance!
Both games are available to download beginning Tuesday, September 1 through October 5.
