Big Brother 22 week 3 recap: The queen of Big Brother says goodbye
Everyone wear pink: It’s Janelle’s funeral. After a long week of watching Janelle and Kaysar fight an uphill battle on Big Brother, Janelle was evicted.
A legend has left the Big Brother house – and we’re not happy about it.
After Tyler’s HOH win last Thursday, we may as well have just skipped straight to the eviction the same night, because this week of Big Brother gameplay was as predictable as it was heartbreaking to watch. Convinced that Janelle and Kaysar had his name in their mouths, Tyler made the unsurprising move of nominating the two of them for eviction.
Predictable Nominations
Neither Janelle nor Kaysar seemed surprised in the slightest – Janelle even made a joke about how good her picture looked up on the memory wall. We can’t say we disagreed with her (let’s be real, Janelle would look good in a garbage bag) but that didn’t make the pain of seeing them nominated next to each other hurt any less. It certainly isn’t the first time it’s happened – as Kaysar noted, they’ve sat on the block next to each other three times now – but this nomination was so frustrating because it was incredibly predictable.
The house has collectively been after the pair since week one – the only reason they didn’t hit the block together in the first nomination ceremony was because of Kaysar’s Safety Suite win. But now, with the new-schoolers in power and both of their safety suite passes used up, the pair finally hit the block.
The Committee Keeps Control
Things may have gotten interesting had one of them won veto and saved themselves, but sadly it wasn’t meant to be – and Cody pulled off the win in a cupcake-themed veto.
Although for a while it looked like Da’Vonne may have been a backdoor target thanks to her antics last week, Cody, Tyler, and the rest of “The Committee” stuck to their guns and kept noms the same – sealing the fate of the two legendary BB besties.
Post-Veto Panic
Although the rest of the week was relatively uneventful for the doomed pair, there was some drama going on in the Big Brother house that could make next week very interesting. Dani has continued to meddle in pretty much every conversation, but her gameplay hasn’t gone unnoticed – both Cody and Tyler have commented that she could be a prime target for a backdoor because of how hard she’s been playing.
However, the biggest blowup of the week came after David made an inadvertent slip and revealed to Da’Vonne that Tyler told him she had attempted to flip the vote against him during last week’s eviction. Da’Vonne was clearly upset that David didn’t trust her, and after the discussion ended, Tyler noticed that David and Bayleigh both seemed riled up – so Tyler got David alone, and then learned from him that Da’Vonne’s name was in Tyler’s mouth.
This in turn sent Tyler spiraling, who was terrified that his game was about to be blown up by a slip of David’s tongue. Tyler then vented to his close ally Cody about the situation, and the duo agreed that David was a rookie who needed to be put on the chopping block sooner rather than later.
Although we’re not sure if David, Da’Vonne, or Dani will go up on the block if The Committee wins power (the majority alliance seems to want to finish off the other half of Jaysar), seeing the alliance fracture would certainly make for great television.
Long Live the Queen
Sadly, eviction night finally rolled around, and by a vote of nine to two, Janelle was evicted from the big brother house. Daniele and Enzo were the two votes for her to stay – but they were prior discussed “hinky votes” intended to cast blame on Da’Vonne and Bayleigh, who were Janelle’s closest allies (other than Kaysar, of course).
Janelle went out looking like a million bucks in a cocktail dress and Chanel earrings, and if we’re honest, we can’t say we expected anything less. Notably, the only houseguest she didn’t hug was Nicole Franzel, and in Nicole’s goodbye message, she uninvited Janelle from her wedding, although Janelle didn’t grace that snide comment with a response.
Even Julie seemed a little flustered to be in the presence of THE Janelle Pierzina, but the exit interview went along smoothly, and sadly without any indication of a Battle Back or similar twist that would bring Janelle back into the game. At least for now, it looks like Janelle’s Big Brother story has ended.
Going into next week, this HOH is a do-or-die for Kaysar, who will likely hit the block if he doesn’t win – even his closest allies Da’Vonne, Bayleigh, and Ian, have mentioned that they would put him up as not to ruffle any other feathers in the house. With Janelle gone and Kaysar in danger, we’re on pins and needles to see how this next week plays out.
This Week’s Superlatives:
Clutch Play of the Week: Nobody really made any game-saving plays this week – other than David possibly tanking his game on accident.
Most Memorable Moment: Christmas’ oodles and oodles of baby plush stars, which were annoyingly adorable.
Houseguest in the Best Spot: Enzo is both well-liked and covered on all sides – we don’t see him going anywhere any time soon.
