Harry Potter’s muggle outfits throughout the series are honestly in fashion now
Harry Potter wearing Dudley’s old clothes meant that they were always a bit too big on him and he’d have to wear high waisted pants and a belt. Luckily, that’s now in style.
When Harry Potter rolled into our lives in oversized plaid shirts and baggy pants, we felt so bad for him. And now, that is basically in style. No, really, many are out there wearing baggy pants and plaid shirts or that oversized sweatshirt that he wore when he went to Hogsmeade.
What’s fun about it is this a perfect way of tracking fashion trends and how everything shifts. As kids, we understood that Harry’s outfit choice wasn’t actually his choice but now, looking back, Harry would have probably been the coolest kid around.
Maybe there’s a small part of many of us who are now subconsciously dressing like Harry Potter but also it’s interesting to think about how Harry’s outfits that he was forced into by his aunt and uncle somehow stayed with him even when he had the choice to pick his own clothes years later.
Harry Potter didn’t have an easy life and it never really got better but there is something about that little detail, where Harry kind of found his own fashion sense and we all liked it that is interesting to look at.
While Harry Potter and the Cursed Child gave us a look at what Harry wore while he was working, it’d be interesting to see how it followed him into his adult life and if he still has some of those oversized shirts hidden away. Sure, there’s probably a deeper meaning behind him choosing that kind of outfit but it’s interesting.
