When many fans talk about the Harry Potter series, they often bring up their love of Prisoner of Azkaban and why is that the story of choice for fans of the franchise?

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is often hailed as the best book in the series and honestly, they’re not wrong. Bringing to life the Marauders and showing us all of the life that James Potter had before his untimely death, Prisoner of Azkaban is the source of joy for many fans.

The book first introduced us to Remus Lupin and Sirius Black and we, as fans, got to learn more about Harry’s family in a way that we didn’t get to in the first two books. We could see where his family began, the people who were still there for Harry even with his parents gone, and for a lot of us, we got our favorite characters.

So yeah, Prisoner of Azkaban might seem like a strange choice for a favorite book but it gave fans of the Harry Potter series so much. Especially when Remus Lupin showed up as a professor at Hogwarts. It’s a great book, a great movie, and establishes why so much of Harry’s relationships with his father’s friends matter later in the series.

We learned about the love that Remus Lupin and Sirius Black shared for their friend and with each other and while Harry finally got father figures in his life, it also brought to him people who intimately knew his parents outside of their legacy and that’s why Prisoner of Azkaban is the best in the entire series.
