4 major ways Agents of SHIELD set the standard for future Marvel television series

Casting Perfection
You would be hard-pressed to find a group of such diverse people, from all different walks of life, who have the amazing chemistry that the cast of Agents of SHIELD does. Aside from Clark Gregg and Ming-Na Wen, the original cast was made up of relative newcomers (not counting Chloe’s brief stint as an overseas pop star), but that didn’t stop them from becoming one of the most-beloved casts of the MCU fandom. From their frequent Comic-Con appearances to network interviews, you can tell that these people love each other.
Each of the actors seemed to have been made to take on the roles they portrayed on Agents of SHIELD. All of them frequently gave Emmy-worthy performances (looking at you, “Self Control”), sometimes on a weekly basis. It’s a shame the show never won any Emmys, but they did snag a nifty Critic’s Choice Award following their first season. Not too shabby for a newcomer television show.
Additionally, the show benefited greatly from a cast made up of both original characters and ones who were based on characters in the comic books. Coulson, of course, had been a part of the MCU since 2008’s Iron Man, but Daisy, Yo-Yo, Mack, Ghost Rider, and Bobbi Morse (aka Mockingbird) are all based on Marvel comic book characters. The show did an excellent job of honoring the source material, while also giving its own spin on these well-known characters
