Netflix is rumored to want a Harry Potter like series for the platform
Something like the Harry Potter series is a rare kind of thing and now Netflix wants to find their own series like it but…they kind of already had one similar to Potter.
The Harry Potter series is something that many fans still turn back to and now, there’s a rumor going around on Twitter that Netflix wants a Harry Potter like series for themselves. Here’s the thing: They kind of already had one.
The streaming platform had a show based on the books by Lemony Snicket called A Series of Unfortunate Events and, as a fan of both growing up, the series came out right around the same time as the Potter series. (A Series of Unfortunate Events came out in 1999-2006 and the Harry Potter series came out from 1995-2007.)
So, the question is why does Netflix want to have another series like this? Probably because it will have fans coming back to the platform time and time again but I’d argue that they also still have Stranger Things and if they continue to make movies based in the world of The Old Guard, then they’re one step closer to that dream.
It’s interesting that their frame of reference is Harry Potter though because that was a series by Warner Brothers and released to movie theaters so is Netflix just going to be behind producing this and having the films release in theaters? Or what exactly do they want to create for themselves?
Hopefully, Netflix realizes they do have series that work for that idea but if they want something like the Harry Potter series, maybe they’ll get creators from the LGBTQIA+ community to bring something like this to the platform.
