Netflix’s Warrior Nun left fans dangling off a cliff, desperately in need of answers. If it’s greenlit for a season two, we may finally get them.

Netflix’s Warrior Nun proved to be an empowering, action-packed series when it arrived on the streaming platform last month, and it’s first-season finale left fans desperately in need of answers. After watching Ava finally embrace her role as the Halo Bearer, fans thought they’d get answers when she broke into the vault beneath the Vatican. Unfortunately, her adventure only left us with more questions.

The twists kept coming as the show revealed that Adriel had been locked beneath the Vatican all those years — and that Adriel wasn’t the angel he claimed to be. Add Father Vincent’s shocking betrayal to that, and the entire last episode was a cocktail of intense reveals and heart-thumping action.

A second season hasn’t been confirmed for Warrior Nun just yet, but after that cliffhanger of an ending, we have to assume we’re getting one. (Please don’t let us down, Netflix.) So what are some of the biggest questions we need answered when season two (hopefully) arrives?

What’s Going on With Lilith?

Sister Lilith’s storyline is a highlight of Warrior Nun‘s first season, and her character arguably grows the most over the first 10 episodes (apart from Ava, of course). Lilith goes from hunting Ava and the Halo to sacrificing herself to save them — and when she returns, it’s with a Halo of her own.

That Halo makes Sister Lilith act in unpredictable ways, and it’s only after Mary reminds her of who she is that Lilith returns to her usual self. But since the series never really addresses the object inside of her, we have to assume she can fall prey to its influence once again.

There’s also the huge question of where Lilith’s Halo came from, and why it was given to her in the first place. It seems these objects may be more demonic in nature than the Sisters originally thought, especially after the Adriel reveal. If that’s the case, does Hell have plans for Lilith — and can she resist them?

What Is Father Vincent’s Endgame?

After an entire season of cursing Cardinal Duretti and Mother Superion for getting in the way of Father Vincent’s plans, fans found their own beliefs flipped upside down when the finale revealed that Vincent was the traitor to the Church all along. He’d been planning to unleash a devil the entire time he pretended to help Ava and her friends — and they were just as stumped as the audience when he turned his back on them.

Unfortuantely, the finale doesn’t give us much time to delve into why Vincent has chosen to serve Adriel. Does he genuinely believe the demon has earned his trust, or is there something larger at play here?

We’d love to know if Vincent truly believes what he’s doing is the right thing, or if he’s as self-interested as Duretti appeared. The finale pushed his character to the top of the most-interesting list — and that means season two will need to do a deep dive.

Where Did Michael Go?

Alongside the narrative being driven by the Church, there’s also Jillian Salvius’ storyline. A scientist whose son is fatally ill, Jillian is determined to break open the portal to the next life — and it’s unclear if she succeeds in doing so or not.

During the finale, Michael is suddenly drawn to the machine that Jillian has been building, seemingly through some sort of connection to Ava, the Halo, and Adriel. (It’s all very confusing.) He eventually steps through the gates, and Jillian attempts to follow him — only to be left behind.

The moment is brief and emotional, and it doesn’t tell us whether Jillian got a glimpse of the other side — or where Michael went. There are plenty of questions surrounding Michael’s character and his role in all this, and hopefully the show won’t leave us hanging on that count.

Where Did the Halo Come From?

This Halo business was all very mysterious from the get-go, and the season finale didn’t provide much insight into what the darn thing is, or where it initially came from. We now know that Adriel stole the Halo — and that he deseperately wants it back — but where it came from before that, or whether it was every intended for humans, is all unclear.

Now that Adriel’s existence has jumpled up the history we spent season one learning, Warrior Nun will need to dig even deeper into its lore in season two. (And we aren’t complaining about that….)

How Will the Girls Escape?

As though the multiple plot twists weren’t enough to leave fans aching for a second season of this show, the final episode leaves off with Mary diving into a crowd of possessed demons — and things really don’t look good.

Fans have no idea whether Mary will survive the mob of possessed people, nor do we have any inkling as to how Ava and the others will escape Vincent and Adriel. They’re outnumbered, so fighting their way out doesn’t seem like much of an option — not unless reinforcements come to sweep them away.

With the scale balanced so heavily against them, we have to wonder if they’ll all even survive Adriel — and what might happen if they lose.
