You Were Made for Me – Jenna Guillaume

Everyone has their idea of a Dream Man – what he should look like, the books he’d read, the perfect color of his eyes. Maybe even a posh accent of some type. (I mean, or that could just be me, I’m not sure.) But, we all know he’s probably not real, and that even real-life Dream Men like Chris Evans or Ryan Gosling have flaws. Or at least, we assume so.

But what if your Dream Man was real? What if, by wishing for him, you made him exist?

That’s the general idea behind author Jenna Guillaume’s new YA romantic comedy, You Were Made for Me. In this case, when sixteen-year-old Kate fashions her dream boyfriend out of clay, only to wake up one morning and find him in her bedroom, made of flesh and blood. Can the idea of perfect live up to reality?

Given everything going on in the world right now, a fluffy rom-com seems like a perfect way to beat the heat. Plus, per Guillaume herself, the book is at least partially inspired by her real-life meeting with actor Chris Hemsworth, which is kind of amazing?

The official synopsis describes the story as follows.

"Katie didn’t mean to create a boy. A boy like a long-lost Hemsworth brother: six-foot tall with floppy hair and eyes like the sky on a clear summer’s day; whose lips taste like cookie-dough and whose skin smells like springtime. A boy who is completely devoted to Katie. He was meant to be perfect. But he was never meant to exist."

You Were Made for Me is available on August 11.
