Today marks a momentous day for Harry Potter: He’s 40! But in that, it also reminds us that technically Harry is not a millennial or a Gen Zer. He’s part of Gen X.

For many millennials and Gen Zers, the Harry Potter series was part of our growing up. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone came out in 1995 so…it makes sense that many of us wouldn’t instantly think about Harry not being a millennial but then again, the math of the Harry Potter series is important to keep up with.

So, as we millennials and then Gen Zers all fled to reading this series, we probably thought that Harry would understand our struggles and issues but, instead, he’s a Gen Xer. Just kidding, they also had it terrible but it is kind of funny to think about the fact that Harry James Potter is now forty years old.

It doesn’t really change anything about the series but it’s just strange to think about? He’s forty. We started this journey when Harry was eleven and we went through his years of school and defeating Voldemort all together and now he’s a middle-aged dad of three who probably has back pain. It’s weird.

Harry James Potter is four decades old and he’s still just that little boy who was trying to save the wizarding world. He had so much on his shoulders and grew up in a terrible household and then was forced into a war but through it all, he kept putting the greater good ahead of everything else and that’s why we love and celebrate him as much as we do.

Next. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child came out four years ago today. dark
