Dobby the House Elf and why we have such a love for him as a character
When it comes to characters we love unconditionally, Dobby the House Elf is pretty high up on that list but why is it that we love him so much even after all this time?
Dobby the House Elf is talked about for a great many reasons and one of those is the fact that he sacrificed himself to save Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. But, more than that, there is something about Dobby that keeps us loving him even after all these years.
And it probably has something to do with the fact that he was always willing to die for Harry. Or at least would put himself on the line to protect him. Since we met him in Chamber of Secrets, he was protecting Harry and when Harry stepped up and freed Dobby from the Malfoys, he was then indebted to the Boy Who Lived even though Harry was just returning the favor.
Still, their friendship and Dobby’s connection back to the story kept him there and willing to do whatever Harry needed him to do, even if that meant sacrificing himself. But that’s why Dobby was so great. He was strong, he tried to help where he could and, in the end, he did what he thought was best for the fight against Voldemort and to protect his friends.
Dobby the House Elf might not be an important character in the grand scheme of things but he is someone we love to talk about and look back to and that’s what makes him one of the best characters in the entire Harry Potter series.
