The fast-paced, exciting plot is relentless

The first season of Stargirl is only a bit more than half over yet this series has already pulled off more twists and revelations than some superhero series manage over the course of their entire runs. The pace and tension of the story are positively relentless, as the new Justice Society expands, new villains arise and secret identities are revealed – not just to the audience but to characters within the story.

Over the course of the season to date, multiple people have discovered Courtney’s secret identity The relationships between villains and other key characters have been revealed. The audience is clued into multiple secrets that ill invariably impact the end of the season.

And no part of this show is counting on a character’s not knowing a basic fact of the story in order to drive the plot forward. (The Flash, no matter how much I might love it, wasted a lot of time telling stories built around the fact that Iris didn’t know – and couldn’t guess –  that Barry and The Flash were the same person. Stargirl doesn’t bother with any of that and feels like a breath of fresh air as a result.
