Star Wars rumor: Could Donald Glover reprise his role as Lando for Disney+?

Rumors of Donald Glover reprising his Star Wars role as a young Lando Calrissian for Disney+ have reemerged. Is there any truth behind them?

When actors do a solid job of portraying a beloved characters, fans tend to want them back onscreen as that character — especially when they’re part of a franchise with numerous films and television series. That’s certainly been the case with Donald Glover, who played a young Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Since his appearance in the prequel film, fans have been looking for the actor’s return to the franchise — and rumors have frequently sprung up about Glover reprising the role for a Disney+ series. Those reports have surfaced once again, thanks to the Kessel Run Transmissions podcast, which claims there’s truth behind them.

And to be fair, it would be the perfect time for Lucasfilm to make such an announcement, with Comic-Con@Home happening this week. Likewise, Disney seems to be ramping up its Star Wars content on its Disney+ streaming platform — and Lando is a fan-favorite character many would subscribe to learn more about.

Unfortunately, neither Disney or Glover has mentioned anything about a new series, and the latter does already have a pretty packed schedule with his career as a musician and his work on Atlanta. Squeezing something as huge as a Star Wars series in seems like it would be a challenge — that is, unless he’s reprising the role for guest appearances on another character’s show.

There are plenty of reasons Glover could appear in another Star Wars project in the future, but right now, there’s no concrete evidence to support the current round of rumors. Kessel Run Transmissions did first report the news about the recently announced Clone Wars spin-off though … so perhaps there’s some reason to hold out hope. (Fingers crossed!)
