Fans of the Harry Potter series have begun a quest to find Lord Voldemort’s grave but, in doing so, they are eroding Greyfriars Kirkyard because of the search for it.

Greyfriars Kirkyard has reported that there is soil erosion from fans coming to search for the gravestone of Lord Voldemort. The famous graveyard has been rumored to be a staple among Harry Potter fans and now their search for the grave of Voldemort is eroding the soil there.

The graveyard is famous because many Harry Potter fans think that it is filled with names that inspired the series. According to The Scotsman, there are graves for Mr. William McGonagall and Mrs. Elizabeth Moodie who could have inspired the names of Minerva McGonagall and Mad-Eye Moody.

According to Mugglenet, this also isn’t the first time that Potter fans have take a journey to a famous site from the films that have made soil erosion a problem. The site where Dobby the House Elf was buried also faced the same problem with fans going to see the site.

"The problem of soil erosion is not unique to Greyfriars Cemetery. Earlier this year, the beloved gravesite of Dobby had to be relocated as a result of environmental damage to the local beach. Furthermore, there are additional concerns of privacy, since the high influx of tourists might disturb the peace of family members who are mourning their deceased loved ones there."

It’s not a bad thing, it shows that Potter fans still want to see part of the series but it does mean that we have to be careful because soil erosion isn’t something we want to deal with. Especially because we, as fans, are going to see something from the films.

Hopefully, it gets fixed and we don’t have to worry about it anymore!
