Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD season 7 episode 9 preview: It’s Groundhog Day!

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD throws our team into a time loop in this week’s episode. Can the team break out of it or will they be forever trapped?

We’ve talked a lot about Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD retreading some of its greatest hits this season, kind of as a victory lap for the finale.

I don’t think any of us thought they’d take it literally. Because yes, this week’s episode is very much like Groundhog Day.

Here is the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “As I Have Always Been,” courtesy of ABC:

"“A time storm ravages the Zephyr, propelling it toward destruction while simultaneously forcing Daisy and Coulson to relive their failed attempts to save the team over and over, until they find a solution or are swallowed by the storm. Making it to their next destination will take trust, courage and sacrifice from everyone on board, but it will all come down to having enough time.”"

So from the preview, it looks like Daisy starts to remember faster than everyone else, and Coulson knows the whole time because he’s an LMD.

But where does Enoch factor into all this? Do Chronicoms know when they’re in a time loop? Can he help Daisy and Coulson? The title of the episode sounds like something he would say.  Which… doesn’t bode well, really. There’s this sinking feeling that Enoch’s not making it out of this show alive.

But the bigger issue is whether the team can actually make it out of the time loop and if so, where do they go from here? When they break out, where and when will they get deposited?

Hopefully on Fitz’s doorstep. Because we still need answers, Agents of SHIELD. And Fitz probably has a few at the ready.
