Want to watch only the best of the Harry Potter series before the movies leave HBO Max is August? We have some suggestions on which to watch first and what to skip over!

While many of us have already seen all of the Harry Potter films, it’s often nice to revisit. Or, in some cases, watch them for the first time with someone who hasn’t seen them. But now that they’re leaving HBO Max in August, what ones should you prioritize?

Honestly, the answer is always Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Easily the best film in the franchise, it is one that set the tone for the rest of the films and took us away from making sure they were perfect reactions of the books. Granted, it’d be nice to do something like Game of Thrones did and explore the series in a more in-depth way but for now, let’s talk about which movies to focus on first.

After Prisoner of Azkaban, venture into Goblet of Fire and then maybe jump back to Sorcerer’s Stone. The journey could be whatever you want it to be and while it is a quick turn around, just watch them in whatever order you want.

But definitely start with Prisoner of Azkaban because it is, arguably, the best among all of the Harry Potter films. So, why not just start there and see where you want to go next? Maybe you’ll watch Order of the Phoenix and keep the Sirius Black saga going or so on and so forth. Do whatever you want before the movies leave the streaming platform.
