Eddie Redmayne’s failed audition is weirdly inspirational

Time and time again, Eddie Redmayne finds success somewhere other than he originally expected and honestly? It is kind of inspirational to see him succeed anyway.

It seems as if Eddie Redmayne has quite the track record for auditioning for franchises or wanting to be in them and it not working out has he planned. First, it was wanting to be a Weasley in the Harry Potter series but now, apparently, Redmayne auditioned for the role of Kylo Ren in Star Wars.

According to Mugglenet, the Fantastic Beasts star auditioned for casting director Nina Gold who would cast him in his Oscar-winning performance for The Theory of Everything and his nominated role in The Danish Girl. But it is interesting that he auditioned for Kylo Ren.

To be honest, it’d be funny because that’d mean he’d either have to do an American accent or Ben Solo would just somehow have a British accent. Still, seeing Eddie Redmayne in Star Wars, I thought he would have auditioned for a role like General Hux, which went to Harry Potter alum Domhnall Gleeson.

The future will still have plenty of Star Wars content in it and maybe he’ll get to take on some other role (his Theory of Everything co-star Felicity Jones ended up in Rogue One) but until then, we can all just sit and imagine his Kylo Ren. It’d probably be a lot like his role in Jupiter Ascending, right? Or would his Kylo have been a lot more conflicted? Even though Adam Drivers was VERY conflicted and sad anyway.

Who knows but we could still potentially see Redmayne in a Star Wars. What would you like to see him in?
