Alexander Hamilton would have definitely been a Ravenclaw in Gryffindor, right?
The Hogwarts houses are not exactly perfect but when it comes to Alexander Hamilton (the version we see in the musical Hamilton), he’d be a Ravenclaw in Gryffindor, right?
When it comes to Hogwarts houses, it can be a complicated conversation and thinking about what house Alexander Hamilton would be in brings up a complicated issue: Not everyone is perfectly suited for just one house. Many of us are a mix of houses and we end up just being put in the one that fits us the most and, in the case of Alexander Hamilton, his bravery and ambition would definitely put him in Gryffindor.
But, he’s very intellectual and someone who thinks about this to help guide him which would also make him a Ravenclaw. It’s complicated because everyone is kind of mixed between multiple houses but at least, with Hamilton, he showed all his sides.
He’d even be a Slytherin because of how he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants and, in a big way, he’s a great example of why the Hogwarts house system is only a suggestion. We even see it with Harry Potter. He is split between Gryffindor and Slytherin and makes the choice to be in Gryffindor and so when the option was laid out before him, Hamilton would probably also make the choice to be a Gryffindor.
The idea of being brave and someone willing to put themselves on the line almost seems better than being the “smart” one and even Hermione was a Gryffindor instead of a Ravenclaw so it would make sense.
