Throughout the last few weeks, we have continued to talk about J.K. Rowling on Wizards and Whatnot by criticizing her harmful viewpoints. Now, we will not even give her hate-filled ideas a platform.

There comes a point in J.K. Rowling’s continual need to double down on her transphobic remarks that tie the hands of those who run Harry Potter sites and that time has, officially, come for me. From this point on, I will not be publishing anything about Rowling’s new work, Rowling’s views, or anything she plans on doing or saying unless she realizes her privilege in making these statements and helps the trans community instead of sharing the harmful rhetoric like she has time and time again.

Many are commenting that Rowling has a “right” to make these statements and sure, in some roundabout way, she does. But the statements in question are harmful to trans individuals and she continues to share this rhetoric even when people try to engage with her and tell her why it is dangerous.

So, to me, it makes the most sense to just stop bringing attention to her and her warped views. I will personally continue to donate to trans organizations and spread information on where you can donate and what you can do but here at Wizards and Whatnot, we will be talking about just the world of Harry Potter and the actors who brought these characters to life. Rowling and her transphobic views have gotten enough attention and we do not want to further her harmful messaging.

If you would like to donate to trans organizations, we have compiled places you can turn to here.
