In the first season finale of Roswell, New Mexico, the hit series from The CW, alien cop Max Evans (Nathan Parsons) gave up his life to resurrect Liz’s (Jeanine Mason) older sister, Rosa (Amber Midthunder), who had died 10 years prior. As we see in the second season, both Ortecho women struggle to get back to a sense of normalcy. Liz puts her biomedical expertise toward reviving Max, while Rosa adjusts to being alive, again, this time with alien-adjacent powers.

Despite the fact that Rosa was the older sister at the time of her death, Liz is now the oldest, since Rosa didn’t age while she was dead. Liz has become the responsible one, while Rosa continues with her wild ways, until finally admitting that she needed help ending her substance abuse problem. These ladies are tough as nails, but they always come through for each other — and thats part of why they’re so compelling to watch.
