Kara and Alex, Supergirl

Throughout Supergirl‘s recent (and many) ups and downs, the Danvers sisters remained at the heart of the show. The adoptive sisters are responsible for some of the most heartwarming, and heartbreaking, scenes of the series. Both are certainly strong women in their own right. They fight side by side, but at the end of the day, they love each other as sisters. Even though Kara (Melissa Benoist) is a Kryptonian, Alex (Chyler Leigh) has always been protective of her. When Alex came out to Kara as queer, Kara supported Alex every step of the way.

A lot of things felt off about Supergirl‘s fifth season, including the fact that we didn’t get nearly as many Danvers sisters scenes as we usually do. They pretty much went their separate ways at the beginning of the season, but they came back together while dealing with the constant threat of Lex Luthor, as well as the emotional complexities of dealing with Lena (Katie McGrath). Following Alex’s departure from the DEO, we cheered just as much as Kara did when Alex donned her new vigilante costume (we were living for that eye makeup). One of our many hopes for next season, is that the writers will get back to basics and bless us with more scenes of these two.
