The Princess Will Save You – Sarah Henning

This latest novel from author Sarah Henning is a romantic adventure story in the vein of The Princess Bride. But with one key distinction: In this book, it’s the princess is the one who’ll be doing the rescuing.

When Princess Amarande’s father dies, her country’s laws require her, as the sole female heir, to marry in order to retain control of her kingdom. And to make sure she complies, someone kidnaps Luca, the stable boy who’s both Amarande’s best friend and the boy she loves. (A fact which she actually may not realize until his life is threatened.)

But the former king trained his daughter to be a fighter, not an ornament – so she’s just going to have to find Luca, rescue him herself, and forge a new future for herself and the throne she’s determined to claim.

The official synopsis reads as follows.

"When her father dies, Princess Amarande is given an ultimatum: Marry the leader of one of the four neighboring kingdoms, or lose her crown—and possibly her life. And to force her hand, her beloved, the stable boy Luca, is kidnapped. But Amarande was raised to be a warrior, not a sacrifice. And nothing will stop her from saving her true love and rescuing her kingdom. The acclaimed author of Sea Witch turns the classic damsel-in-distress tale on its head with this story of adventure, identity, and love."

Den of Geek has a first look at the novel’s first chapter if you need more info, or want a taste of Henning’s writing style.

The Princess Will Save You is available on July 7.
