Stephen King confusingly supports J.K. Rowling and then backtracks?

J.K. Rowling was tweeting praise for Stephen King and he retweeted the Harry Potter author until he realized it was transphobic and then he deleted the RT from her.

It seemed, at first, as if Stephen King was supporting J.K. Rowling’s transphobic remarks. Retweeting the Harry Potter Rowling has deleted her tweets praising Stephen Kingauthor, it was clearly that King (after he clarified), didn’t know that the tweet in question was transphobic. Now, because he said that he supports the trans community.

The tweet in question was Rowling praising King but continuing to double down on her transphobic rhetoric. Since posting her blog post back in the beginning of June, Rowling let Twitter for six days before returning and posting pictures that children drew as if everything was fine. But when she praised King and realized that he supported Trans Rights, she deleted her tweets about him.

To be completely honest, this isn’t surprising that she is now actively not supporting people who support the trans community. Even if she didn’t mean the delete to mean that, that’s how it comes across. All King did was realize what he retweeted and deleted it and she turned around and deleted her praise of him. Why? Because he believes that trans women are women?

It’s troublesome that Rowling continues to double-down on this and isn’t stopping. Time and time again, she shares her harmful opinion and then continues to share the artwork she gets from children as if it isn’t dangerous what she’s doing.

Good on Stephen King for recognizing what Rowling was saying and clarifying. I just wish that Rowling would see the harm she’s doing.
