One Day at a Time

It’s the show that just won’t quit! A reboot of the original Norman Lear series, One Day at a Time feels like a classic multi-cam sitcom imbued with a modern, 21st-century sensibility.

One Day at a Time follows Lupita (the hilarious and warm Justina Machado, Six Feet Under), a mother of two trying to keep everything together after her divorce. Lupita’s mother, Lydia,  (the iconic Rita Moreno) also lives with her and her kids, all in a tight apartment.

The premise is simple, but the family dynamics allow for feeling, funny, and sincere conversations on a variety of relevant topics ranging from immigration to addiction to sex.

As funny as it is moving, if you haven’t yet watched One Day at a Time, don’t let the traditional format scare you away. The Alvarez family will welcome you in as one of their own, and you’ll soon find yourself rooting for them, crying with them, and cheering with them as hard as anyone else.

One Day at a Time has also cultivated a devoted fanbase, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, who helped save the show after Netflix canceled it. Thanks to fan outcry, the series is now in the middle of its fourth season, the first on Pop TV.

You can catch up on everything the Alvarez family has been up to by streaming the first three seasons on Netflix and the current season on Pop TV.
