Harry Potter isn’t exactly a perfect world and there are plenty of complicated parts to the wizarding world so let’s take a look at some of the more interesting aspects of it.

Everything about the wizarding world that Harry Potter finds himself in is exciting and new to him (and us as readers) but when you get further into the series, there are more complicated areas of it all that we often ignore. For instance, there is the idea of their government structure and how it basically mirrors our own in the fact that no one is doing what they should be.

But more importantly, there are people and creatures within that world who are looked down on and treated terribly for what? The Purebloods? It’s bad and we often just brush that part off to talk about the characters we love and why but those darker parts of the series and the themes therein are what made this world feel so full to us all.

What’s strange, when looking back at the series, is that it sometimes addresses these issues and then forgets about them later on. Hermione and her dedication to S.P.E.W. is the easiest example to think of.

So much is based in the singular situation and the problems there and then it just goes on to the next problem without ever really going back. That part of this world has always been baffling but looking at those storylines and moments is important. Especially as readers.

It would have been nice had the series focused a bit more on the injustices of the world it was building but now we can pick apart everything and look into it more.
