Praxeus

“Praxeus” is probably the best overall ensemble episode of season 12, though it’s unfortunate position airing directly after “Fugitive of the Judoon” means that fans were waiting for answers about the Ruth Doctor or the destruction of Gallifrey that this episode distinctly did not contain.

But for what may be the only time this season, every companion has something to do and plays an important part of the story. Granted that’s because Thirteen herself is largely absent from this hour, but let’s take what we can get.

Though this hour is another cautionary tale for humanity in the vein of “Orphan 55” – this time about humanity’s dependence on plastics – the story is at least more entertaining than its predecessor. Built around three mysteries that span three continents that all still manage to come together in the end, its got several strong secondary characters and a generally satisfying conclusion.
