Emma Watson is advocating for sustainable fashion on Kering’s board of directors
Sustainable fashionable is an important thing to remember when you think about Hollywood and Emma Watson joined the board of directors for Kering to lead the charge!
Emma Watson is putting in the work to try and make high fashion more sustainable. The Harry Potter actress is now on the board of directors for Kering. The group, which owns such labels as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, and Alexander McQueen, they are trying to make fashion more about helping the environment than just the fashionable side of it.
Watson isn’t new to the sustainable fashion game. She’s taken to wearing sustainable fashion on red carpets, adjusted her life to lessen her carbon footprint, and now, seeing these huge brands take a step towards reducing their carbon footprint is a good thing.
For so long, fashion was about how you looked no matter the cost. So many red carpet looks were used once and then never warn again, effectively furthering their carbon waste. But with stars like Emma Watson standing up and taking a stand against the old ways of fashion to make it more sustainable, it is on the way to actually being worthwhile and not just something that continues to expand the carbon footprint of the world.
François-Henri Pinault, who is the CEO and Chairman of Kering, commented on the new additions to the board of directors.
"I am delighted to welcome Jean Liu, Tidjane Thiam and Emma Watson to our Board of Directors. Their respective knowledge and competences, and the multiplicity of their backgrounds and perspectives will be invaluable additions to Kering’s Board of Directors. The collective intelligence that comes from diverse points of view and the richness of different experiences are crucial to the future of our organization. I am proud to add such impressive talents to the team."
Great on Emma Watson for taking a stand! We need to keep fashion sustainable and it helps to have stars stand up and work towards making it so!
