Baby Yoda vs Dobby: Who is the better big earred character to love?
We have all become infatuated with Baby Yoda but there used to be a big earred character we loved with our whole heart: Dobby. So who is the better character to love?
Baby Yoda is the son we all never knew we needed. He came into our lives and suddenly, we cared only about him and what he needed. But he wasn’t the first big earred character to come crashing into our lives and taking our hearts. That title also belongs to Dobby.
Dobby the House Elf, at first, was trying to stop Harry Potter from going to school and many of us wanted to hate him but he was, at the end of the day, just protecting Harry. Then, he sacrificed his life to protect Harry and his friends so they could defeat Voldemort.
Much like, in a lot of ways, Baby Yoda. The Child, as he is called on the program The Mandalorian, he is willing to do whatever to protect the Mandalorian. Even if that means accidentally hurting friends of Mando’s because he doesn’t understand.
What it means though is that we, as fans, love a big earred baby. Whether it be because he’s trying to help our hero or because he is, in his own way, the hero we’re rallying behind, we just love them. So, to be fair, I don’t think we should really pit the two against each other. We can easily love both Baby Yoda and Dobby and if there was some universe where they could be on screen together, I think we would all just want them to be friends and take care of each other.
