Celebrities, they’re just like us and that means making references to the Harry Potter series even if you’re someone as famous as Sir Paul McCartney being knighted.

Today is Sir Paul McCartney’s birthday and while that’s a day to celebrate all on its own, let’s look back to the time when a founding member of the Beatles felt like Harry Potter. That’s right, a member of the Beatles also likes to make references to the Harry Potter series randomly and, in truly wonderful fashion, did so about being knighted.

Sir Paul McCartney was knighted back in 1997 and then given the Legion of Honour in 2012 and, apparently, felt like the Boy Who Lived while doing so. In actually, he was comparing the before and after of being knighted and going from just Paul McCartney to Sir Paul McCartney as something magical but still, he compared it to the Harry Potter series and it was wonderful.

McCartney did so while talking on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and maybe it’s just me but I love that he compared himself to Harry. As someone who has loved the Beatles for as long as I can remember, the fact that McCartney would make a joke about the series (because let’s be real, it was just a one-off joke) is just a fun way of looking at a musician that many have looked up to for years.

So happy birthday to Sir Paul McCartney. May you continue to feel like the Boy Who Lived and who knows, maybe you’ll end up getting knighted for a third time so you can feel that magic again.

Next. Why are love and support for the Harry Potter cast continues on. dark
