Daniel Radcliffe did a good thing and brought hope and support for the trans community and now people on Twitter are being obnoxious and rude? Enough already.

When the #AskDanielRadcliffe hashtag started, it was more than likely a way for fans of Daniel Radcliffe to get to ask a question of their fave. Instead, quickly it was overrun by people who support J.K. Rowling and her statements, claiming that Radcliffe “bit the hand that fed him”.

Here’s the thing: Radcliffe is far more than what the Harry Potter series gave him and continues to make interesting choices as an actor that stretch far beyond Harry James Potter and his legacy. The hashtag was just filled with scenarios of women who do not support the trans community.

I don’t pretend to understand where these women are coming from. We live in a world filled with such hatred that they cannot see past their own struggles into the struggles of another and it is heartbreaking but watching Radcliffe not only understand how to be supportive but to use his platform to show his support for the LGBTQ+ community regularly has been wonderful as a fan of his.

So this hashtag being flooded is absolutely devastating because Radcliffe does seem like a genuinely lovely human who tries his best to be the hero that so many of us looked up to growing up. Maybe it was their way of airing their “grievances” with him since he does not have social media but that isn’t fair to fans or anyone else and it’s incredibly upsetting.

Next. Why Daniel Radcliffe speaking out against Rowling means the world to so many. dark

What if we tweeted out our support of Daniel Radcliffe instead of flooding a tag, for fans, with hateful messaging? Be better. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
