Harry Potter and where he ranks in the world of fictional heroes
There are many heroes in our pop culture so were does Harry Potter line-up in the great zeitgeist of heroes that we have come to idolize and talk about?
When it comes to Harry Potter, he is a character that many of us have looked to for joy and guidance throughout the years. But is he the kind of hero that can stand among others in our culture zeitgeist and hold his own?
Think about characters like Peter Parker or Superman. Can Harry Potter stand up against them and stay in our top of heroes? For me, I think it’s more about the secondary characters of the Harry Potter series but I do think that there is a beauty to Harry as a hero.
He isn’t the best hero and he’s not even that great in his series as a whole but he is still our hero and the character we’re following behind and caring for.
When it comes to the world of heroes though, I think that Harry Potter is a character who maybe won’t be someone we look back to as the best of the best. He led the story, took on Voldemort but he did it with the help of those around him. Not like some of the heroes we’ve clung to as a society because they’re the characters who stand on their own but also can get help from others.
Without Hermione, Ron, and the rest of the Wizarding World, Harry wouldn’t have survived let alone taken on Voldemort in the end. But he’s our hero and the one we looked to so maybe he’ll live on in us all.
