From the Fantastic Beasts series not doing that well to J.K. Rowling’s comments, the world of Harry Potter lies in the balance and what is the future going to hold?

Harry Potter fans have had a rough week. Not only has J.K. Rowling continued to double down on her transphobic views, but it seems as if the entire cast has now stepped up in their own ways against her (that part is kind of awesome). With that comes the uncertainty of what lies ahead for the series.

Many of us have long given up on it while others are still re-reading the books and waiting anxiously for the next installment to the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series. But with the recent comments from Rowling and so many problems with The Crimes of Grindelwald, it feels like the future of Potter is a bit confusing.

While HBO Max does, technically, have the rights to the Harry Potter series, they haven’t said anything about plans to do something with it. If so, there should be other creatives behind it rather than Rowling right now.

It’s hard and writing about the series almost hurts because when you’re a fan who disagrees with Rowling, you have to reevaluate your love of the series but (as many of the stars have said), our love of this world and the friends we found there are not beholden to Rowling and her views. We can still love the series and what it taught us even if we don’t currently agree with what J.K. Rowling had to tweet out into the world.
