Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD jumps forward in time in its third episode. Can they track down the Chronicoms before its too late?

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD shoved our SHIELD team a few decades into the future at the end of last week’s episode. It also left Enoch stranded in 1931, bartending for Koenig.

Things are getting a little heavy. That doesn’t bode well for the rest of the season. And we haven’t even gotten into any of the personal issues our team is dealing with, namely Coulson being an LMD, May not feeling anything, Elena no longer using her powers, and everyone just, you know, recovering in general from last season.

Here is the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “Alien Commies from the Future!”, courtesy of ABC:

"“A surprise leap forward in time has stranded Enoch in 1931 and landed the team in yet another unfamiliar decade. Now, in order to stop the chronicoms from launching their newest future-dismantling plan, the agents will have to infiltrate one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most secure bases. They won’t be able to succeed without help from a familiar face or two.”"

Do we think they will find Enoch in whatever year they wind up in? (I also can’t tell if it’s the late 1940s or early 1950s) Since chronicoms don’t age, it would be easy for him to just wait around for them. But figuring out where and when they will arrive in another story.

Meanwhile, we know from the preview that Daniel Sousa makes his official debut in this week’s episode. Daisy describes him as Peggy Carter’s old partner. So… not husband? Did she really marry Cap when he went back in time? Are we still trying to pretend like Agents of SHIELD actually lines up with the rest of the MCU?

Dare I hope for Hayley Atwell to grace our screens once more?

Honestly, one of the highlights of this final season will be seeing our SHIELD team hop through the different decades and eras of the world. I’m a sucker for period attire and loved Agent Carter, so last week’s ’30s attire hit just right.

But we’re not here to discuss wardrobes. We’re here to stop the chronicoms from unraveling the thread of SHIELD. Let’s see what they’re after this week and how long Sousa sticks around.
