Director Melinda May

The position of Director of SHIELD has been a bit of a revolving door in the series, with multiple characters, including both Daisy and Mack, assuming the mantle over the course of the show’s six seasons.

However, there is one perfect candidate who has never been offered the role: Agent Melinda May. Understandably, May was more of a field leader, and that’s the place where she has thrived and grown, mentoring younger agents like Daisy along the way.

But with the love of her life now gone, we can’t think of a better way for May to honor Coulson’s memory than to become the series’ final Director of SHIELD. As an added bonus, an ending scene with May gathering a group of new agents like Coulson did in the very first episode would be an amazing full circle moment.
