What if we didn’t compare the current world to the Harry Potter series?
One of the biggest complaints nowadays is that whenever something bad happens in the world, we all stop and compare it to the Harry Potter series and what if we didn’t?
Harry Potter lived in a world in turmoil and it was a mess but what’s happening now, with fans of his story, is that we’re focusing on the series because our own world is a bit of a mess and our way of coping is to compare them both.
The problem? It is a nearly constant thing. Anything happens in politics and we’re focused on how that relates to the world that Harry Potter lived in. When something goes wrong and it seems like there are evil forces around us, we make jokes about Death Eaters or Voldemort. It’s to the point where even fans of the series don’t want it to be compared to our world.
It isn’t a bad thing it’s just that it’s how some people cope and they want to relate to something they know extremely well. Which, for them, is the Harry Potter series. I understand the mindset of wanting it to end though. Every time the news is bad, the Harry Potter references start up and it makes actual situations where the series would be applicable less important in a weird way.
So should we stop comparing everything to the Harry Potter series? No, do whatever you want, but I do understand why people are getting mad that it’s constantly happening.
