Albus Dumbledore and Cornelius Fudge: Complicated leaders who made mistakes

When it came to men in charge in the Harry Potter series, it seemed as if none of them really knew what they were doing and that includes Albus Dumbledore and Cornelius Fudge.

Harry Potter had to face Voldemort on his own because Albus Dumbledore was barely around and Cornelius Fudge wouldn’t believe them that Voldemort was back. It resulted in the death of Sirius Black and was terrible for both Harry Potter and the entire student base of Hogwarts. The series showed both Dumbledore and Fudge being complicated and flawed but didn’t really show them growing into better leaders.

Let’s look at Dumbledore first: He brought a child into a fight, didn’t help him when he needed It, and continued to hide important information from those around him that eventually got him killed. And then, there was Cornelius Fudge who just refused to believe logic until it was right in his face and then it was too late.

Sure, Fudge ended up losing his position and Dumbledore died but they still had to literally be shown completely failing in order to realize what was really wrong with what they were doing. It was strange and yet interesting to see because once women because in charge of things in the world of Harry Potter, it got a bit better.

When McGonagall was Headmistress of Hogwarts, you didn’t hear of wars breaking out. When Hermione Granger was the Minister of Magic, she was on top of everything happening around her and when she wasn’t, the minute she heard about something she took it seriously.

Maybe that was the lesson all along.
