Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD: The 10 greatest episodes of the show (so far)
By Shaun Stacy
9. Season 6, Episode 3: “Fear and Loathing on the Planet of Kitson”
While Agents of SHIELD is known for its action sequences and inspirational speeches, it also has a healthy sense of of humor for a show that deals with saving the world on a weekly basis. It’s fun to see the actors not take their characters quite so seriously. “Fear and Loathing on the Planet of Kitson” is a prime example of this, as Daisy and Jemma arrive at the planet called Kitson during their intergalactic search for Fitz. Kitson is the planetary equivalent of the dirty parts of Las Vegas, full of casinos and alien brothels.
When Daisy, Jemma, and Davis (Max Osinski) encounter rogue crew members of a ship, they interrogate them on Fitz’s whereabouts and also steal some of their food. Apparently a local delicacy, the colorful puffs are actually hallucinogenic drugs that quickly take their effect on the agents. While Davis (literally) spins out of control on the ship, the drugs hit Daisy and Jemma just as they arrive at the casino Fitz was last seen in.
The results are the two women tripping balls as they try to walk down stairs, lie their way into getting entrance to the casino, and even try to fight bad guys. Jemma imagines a baby monkey Fitz dancing, and Daisy mistakes a bar ruffian for Jemma. The hilarious heart-to-heart Daisy and Jemma have under a casino table, in which they giddily proclaim that they are each others’ best friends, is the highlight of the episode.
