The Lovebirds
The Lovebirds was initially slated for a theater release, but with the COVID-19 outbreak, plans had to change. Instead of going the route of Video on Demand, the film has been released on Netflix, saving its audience the additional pocket money they’d have to spend in order to stream the film for a couple of days instead of whenever they want.
Starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani, The Lovebirds is the rollicking tale of Leilani and Jibran, a couple whose love is tested when they’re accused of murder. As the two can attest, never let someone tell you they’re a cop, commandeer your vehicle, and take you on a wild car chase to apprehend a “suspect.” It’ll just end in two hipsters assuming you committed a murder and send you on a hilarious mission to clear your names.
Usually love is tested by family, friends, differing tastes, and exes. For Leilani and Jibran, it’s running away from a crime scene, breaking into other people’s apartments, attending a creepy masked event, and trying not to bring attention to themselves while in a unicorn hoodie and a shiny gold bomber jacket. Good luck, lovebirds, you’re gonna need it!
The Loverbirds is available to stream now.
