Madam Secretary Season 6
Our dystopian-esque existence has become increasingly depressing as the months during this pandemic crawl on, but if you’re looking to escape into a mirror world that’s like our own but better, might we suggest the final season of Madam Secretary?
For five seasons, Elizabeth McCord has done her utmost to protect the American people whilst keeping truth, justice, and transparency at the forefront of her agenda. She did so as a CIA analyst, a Poli-Sci professor at the University of Virginia, and as Secretary of State in the Dalton administration. Now, having won the election, she intends to do so as the President of the United States.
As the first woman in the presidency, more than history has its eye on President McCord — the world does, too. Conscious of this scrutiny, Bess is aware that every decision she makes is under a microscope, but she doesn’t let it affect her ability to perform as the president the American people elected her to be.
A scandal, however, rocks her administration before it can quite get its legs under it. In a narrative that is intentionally, uncomfortably close to our own, the McCord administration is accused of stealing the election via a hack led by the Iranians that swung the election in Bess’ favor once damaging information leaked about her opponent.
Latching onto this news, a senator makes it his mission to oust her from office despite Bess’ unimpeachable character. Their face-off, as the plot twists reveal more and more of what happened on the campaign trail, is peak television goodness.
Téa Leoni is excellent in the season, showcasing one last time why fans fell for this series and the heart, tenacity, kindness, determination, and zeal of Elizabeth McCord.
