3. Season 4, Episode 17: “The Equestranauts”

Seeming to riff off of the “Brony” phenomenon (adult men who are intense fans of My Little Pony), “The Equestranauts” follows Tina attending a My Little Pony-esque fan convention for her favorite show, only to discover that it’s dominated by middle-aged men.

Within moments, a group of “Equesticles” descends upon Tina and scheme to trade toy horses with her, stealing her much more valuable horse that she doesn’t realize is collectible due to its … unfortunate defect.

When the family learns what’s happened, their outrage spurs them to get Tina’s toy back, sending Bob to go undercover as an Equesticle to retrieve Tina’s stolen horse.

The ensuing training montage as Bob tries quickly to learn all of the Equestranauts canon delivers some of Bob’s Burgers best jokes, especially as Tina grows wearier and more frustrated with Bob by the second.

A fantastic Paul F. Tompkins guest stars, selling Equesticle insanity every step of the way in his performance. And in typical Bob fashion, he gets swept up with the people he meets, having some fun along the way. The adventure, including a tattoo, is not to be missed.
