Bob’s Burgers: Our 10 favorite episodes, ranked by how much we love them
7. Season 7, Episode 1: “Flu-ouise”
Perhaps a bit timely, and maybe one to miss if you aren’t looking for anything related to viruses whatsoever, “Flu-ouise” centers on Louise’s fever dream as she battles the flu amidst a personal tragedy and family betrayal.
Previously referenced, but never before named in the show, Louise’s green nightlight toy, Kuchi Kopi falls into the toilet while she’s sick, setting off a disastrous chain reaction as her family tries to rescue it, eventually melting it into a horrific shape.
When Louise eventually discovers what they’ve done, she lashes out. But her flu takes over and leads her on a path with Kuchi Kopi as her fever dream spirit guide as she encounters other Kuchi Kopi-esque characters representing her family and must choose whether to stay angry or forgive them.
The dreamscape allows for unusual and beautiful animation rarely seen on Bob’s, and the music in the episode is especially lovely as well. The episode also flitters back and forth between Louise’s dream and the Belchers trying to salvage what they’ve done, including a hilarious detour with Bob and Teddy at a toy store that’s not to be missed.
