Beach Read by Emily Henry

Emily Henry‘s Beach Read is one for the writers. Augustus Everett and January Andrews are both accomplished authors but while January trades in romance, Augustus trades in tragedy. Talk about a diverging narrative road. The only things they have in common are the fact that they’re both broke writers living out of beach houses for the next three months, and they have writer’s block that’s driving them crazy.

The writer’s block is so bad that one evening, Augustus and January make a deal. In order to get out of their writing funks they will switch genres. January will try her hand at literary fiction, and Augustus will give romance a shot. But writing isn’t the only thing these two will be doing. A huge part of writing is research and this pair plans to make sure they get a better understanding of what the other does with a story.

January has field trips lined up to give Augustus a taste of what a happily ever after is supposed to feel like, and Augustus has interviews set-up for January to conduct with surviving members of a backwoods death cult. It’s simple. Writing from a new perspective should shake out the cobwebs and allow them to access the creative energy they both know is lying in wait for them if they can just reach it. This is an exercise, a workshop even, it has nothing at all to do with love outside of the pages in a book or so they keep telling themselves..

Beach Read will be available May 19 in print, audio, and e-book format.
