The cast of Orphan Black will reunite for a two-episode virtual table read
By Shaun Stacy
Emmy-winning actress Tatiana Maslany will reprise her Clone Club roles for an Orphan Black virtual table read to help raise money for charity.
Following the announcement that some Orphan Black cast members will be participating in this week’s HomeCon: 2nd Edition, it has also been announced that the cast will also be virtually reuniting for a two-episode table read.
The effort will raise money for the LGBTQ charity CenterLink, as well as Sistering.
CenterLink is a non-profit organization that maintains the network and supports LGBTQ community centers across the world. Sistering is a multi-service agency for at-risk, socially isolated women and trans people in Toronto who are homeless or living in dangerous conditions.
(So, you can see how both these organizations are near and dear to both Orphan Black creatives and the fans that love it.)
The event will be held via Facebook Live at 3pm E.T. on Sunday, May 17th, 2020.
The official video announcement from BBC America is below and features appearances by series stars Tatiana Maslany, Evelyne Brochu, Jordan Gavaris, Kristian Bruun, and Kevin Hanchard.
“Kristian Bruun and I started talking about the idea of doing an Orphan Black reunion back when everything had shut down,” Maslany told Deadline in an interview. “We wanted to show love to Clone Club and help raise money for people who are disproportionately affected during this difficult time.”
Despite the fact that the show came to a satisfying conclusion in 2017, the story of Sarah Manning, along with her many clones and allies, has continued in comic book form as well as in an audiobook format.
In August, Serial Box released an audiobook series that takes place eight years after the events of the Orphan Black series finale. Sarah and her sisters, including Cosima and Alison, are forced to leave the safety of their private lives in order to stop a global disaster.
Additionally, AMC confirmed that they were in the beginning stages of developing a possible new series set in the Orphan Black universe. No further details have been made available since early last year, but with the COVID-19 pandemic there have probably been some understandable roadblocks in moving forward.
