The fifth episode of Mrs. America premieres tonight. Here’s everything you need to know to stream Cate Blanchett and Rose Byrne’s new show.
FX’s new series, Mrs. America, covers both sides of the fight to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment–the women’s liberation movement’s efforts to pass it, and the STOP ERA homemakers who eventually defeated it.
Last week’s episode dove further into Tracey Ullman’s Betty Friedan (the mother of the movement) and her efforts (however flawed) to take down STOP ERA.
Friedan, a somewhat controversial figure in the women’s liberation movement, was nonetheless pivotal as Mrs. America has helped to portray.
At the halfway point of the season, Mrs. America has already done a great job of introducing its enormous cast of characters and portraying both sides of an intense fight. Let’s see what’s in store for the newest episode.
According to IMDB, the synopsis for “Phyllis & Fred & Brenda & Marc” reads:
"Phyllis and Fred Schlafly debate superstar Feminist couple Brenda and Marc Feigen-Fasteau on television."
As Mrs. America has done so well, this week’s episode continues to broaden the scope and introduce more characters in the feminist movement (and counter-movement).
“Phyllis & Fred & Brenda & Marc” finds the Schlaflys furthering the momentum of the STOP ERA movement and debating the uber-feminist Feigen-Fasteau household while continuing to explore the hypocrisy of Phyllis’s fight against equality while seeking it for herself.

To continue the show’s excellent casting choices, Ari Graynor, Adam Brody, and Bobby Cannavale will also appear in this week’s episode. It also appears that Phyllis will further explore her interest in legal studies and law school.
