Sure, the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series is still part of the world of Harry Potter but it is different for fans and it’s interesting to look at why that is.

With Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, we’re learning about a different part of the Harry Potter series. But with that, we’re not really seeing many of the character we had come to love throughout the years. And so the franchise, as a whole, is a bit different for us as fans.

It’s not a bad thing, the franchise is still fun and we have new characters like Newt Scamander and the Goldstein sisters to love but it is also a different game. These characters led to Harry Potter being the one to take on Voldemort.

They were part of the society that let Grindelwald and then Voldemort rise to power and could not stop either of them. And there isn’t really any connection to them other than the brief mentions we had in the original series.

All of that is okay because we are changing and growing as a fandom and learning what we love about these new characters but it still is different because we don’t have the books to get to know them like we did with Harry and his friends. We’re just thrown into the movies and forced to learn on the fly and maybe that’s why, so far, our connections aren’t as deep but hopefully that begins to change.

Next. Buckbeak was easily the best pet that Hagrid ever had in the Harry Potter series. dark
