The Business of Lovers by Eric Jerome Dickey

In Jerome Dickey‘s The Business of Lovers, the Duquesne brothers are so dissimilar in their careers and love that the oldest, Dwayne and Brick, consider themselves to be unlucky in comparison to André.

Dwayne is a former child star, but it’s André’s career as a comedian that’s on the rise. Recently fired from his latest acting gig and barely able to pay child support, Dwayne is strapped for cash. It doesn’t help that he’s not on good terms with his teenage son’s mother, Frenchie. He wants to reconnect with his son, but that’s hard to do when he’s fighting both anger and attraction when it comes to Frenchie. It’s a terrible idea to get back together in any capacity, and yet Dwayne can’t help how he feels.

Brick’s health emergency and nasty break-up has him considering a return to the soul-sucking white-collar job he’d left. In the interim, he’s trying to make ends meet as a chauffeur and bodyguard to Penny, Christiana, and Mocha Latte — three temporary escorts who got into the business to get back on their feet.

All three ladies are fiercely smart and independent, and they know plenty of women who would pay to spend some time with Brick. If he’s looking to scratch some itches to scratch up some cash then there’s an entirely new world of financial possibilities open to him. The catch, of course, is that the business requires making lovers out of strangers, but in the process, Brick may find a new family — one of his own creation.

The Business of Lovers is available April 21 in print, audio, and e-book formats.
