Verona Comics by Jennifer Dugan

If you’re a fan of YA retellings of Shakespeare then Jennifer Dugan‘s novel, Verona Comics, may be right up your alley.

Jubilee isn’t exactly the heir to a comics dynasty like Ridley, whose parents own the country’s largest comic-store chain, but she does work in her step-mom’s indie comic shop, so she’s privy to the feud that’s been sparking up tension between their families.

Still, that doesn’t stop the two of them from falling in love after connecting at a comic convention prom. They figure what their parents don’t know won’t hurt them, but secrets always have a way of getting out. Ridley’s already dealing with the stress of disappointing his parents and his anxiety is getting worse, so this situation seems likely to make matters worse.

Jubilee is trying her best to help, but she’s got a big audition coming up. Between work, getting ready for the audition, and the increasing intensity of her relationship with Ridley, Jubilee’s spreading herself pretty thin emotionally. The two of them love each other a lot, but what if love isn’t enough?

Verona Comics is available April 21 in print, audio, and e-book formats.
