There are some things that remind us all of the Harry Potter series but, for J.K. Rowling, there is one house that inspired her and now the author has purchased it!

The house that Harry Potter lived in with the Dursleys was one that J.K. Rowling knew very well. Or at least, she did back when she was younger. The house in question was one that Rowling and her family lived in when she was 9 years-old until she was 18 and has a cupboard under the stairs and other bits and pieces that makes many of us, as fans, think back to Harry Potter’s own upbringing and where he lived before Hogwarts.

The house in question hasn’t been in Rowling’s possession for quite some time but now she owns it. The thing is, it’s not just the cottage having a cupboard under the stairs that makes it make sense for Rowling and her inspiration but, according to the previous owner of the house, it also has high vaulting ceilings and is a gothic look which reminds Julian Mercer of Hogwarts in a way.

"JK Rowling would have been here in her formative years and could have taken inspiration from the cottage. The architecture is very Hogwarts-like. It has vaulted ceilings [and] stone windows and oozes gothic spirit."

This isn’t exactly a new thing. Many writers get inspiration from their life and go from there in their writings. It’s just lovely that now J.K. Rowling has the house that inspired her and the series that gave so much to us all as fans once more.
