Thanks to the shocking death at the end of the season premiere, Killing Eve has already ratcheted up the stakes for its third season, even as it keeps its two lead characters in worlds that feel further apart than ever before.

Kenny’s death will clearly

Killing Eve looks as though it will continue its sharp, sly juxtaposition of the emotional and the slightly ridiculous this week, as this episode will not only feature everyone’s reaction to the news of Kenny’s death, but also…Villanelle in a clown outfit?

The title indicates that this may be our favorite assassin’s introduction to management training, as she’s clearly sent on a mission with a partner, which involves kids and a bunch of screaming, so, you know, surely that will go well.

The real question, of course, is how Kenny’s death will impact the larger season 3 story. His complicated relationship with his largely stoic mother Carolyn certainly leaves plenty of emotional story to be mined there, and Game of Thrones star Gemma Whelan will be making an appearance as her daughter. 

Then, of course, there’s Eve, whose life since her near death experience has spiraled into a haze of booze, blackouts and loneliness. Will this tragic event motivate her to come out of hiding?
