The bravery that exists within Luna Lovegood is important to remember
Luna Lovegood is a beautiful example of not changing who you are to benefit those around you and she’s a wonderful example of bravery in the Harry Potter series.
Mugglenet wrote a beautiful piece on why Luna Lovegood was one of the best characters in the Harry Potter series and why she was brave. But everyone has a different take on the character. So, for me, one of the reasons that Luna Lovegood is extremely brave isn’t because she puts herself in the line of danger but rather because she’s willing to be herself no matter how others view her.
When you think about Luna Lovegood, you think about her willingness to stand up and just be herself. For many, that’s a very dangerous thing to do and often we pretend to be something we’re not. She’s willing to be out there and embrace those parts of her personality that people would push away. Luna isn’t afraid of being herself.
So much of the Harry Potter series was either conforming to the idea your family held for you or to try and find friends that fit with you and your personality but what works with Luna is that she is just willing to still be herself even if someone tries to change her.
That’s why so many love her friendship with Harry. He might not understand her, might be trying to figure out the best move with her, but he’s at least willing to listen to Luna and what makes her special and neither question it.
